Digicast was founded in 2004, by Jakob Hyldahl, an early streaming media pioneer.
Jakob conducted the first radio broadcast from Italy to Denmark in 1995 using ISDN lines. Back in 1995, the event created quite a lot of attention within the business.
In 2002, Jakob worked for Danish national broadcaster DR , as a TV journalist. The expedition visited 10 eastern European countries, and was carried out along with newspaper Jyllandsposten. What made this trip special, was the distribution of the stories. After shooting and editing on site, the video footage were sent home via the public internet - again, first time in Danish broadcasting history.
In fact, national broadcaster DR was so exited, that they ordered a solution, enabling their Moscow correspondent to send home his stories the same way, saving the organisation thousands of dollars in satellite expenses. The job was completed in the summer of 2003.
After working as a TV journalist in Iraq, Jakob decided to get serious about streaming media. Digicast was founded in 2004, and today the company has 4 employees, and provides full scale webcast solutions for the corporate world.
Today, webcast is no longer a blurry picture at the size of a stamp. Quality is good, and when you add powerpoints, polls and quizzes, it really starts to get exited
